NorfelloCMMS OS Release Notes

These Release Notes cover the version 1.0.0-rc7 of NorfelloCMMS OS.

NorfelloCMMS OS 1.0.0-rc7 is available in three formats:

Requirements

The following software is required in order to run NorfelloCMMS OS:

• Ruby 1.8.2 or later
• Ruby on Rails 1.1.6 or later
• RedCloth 3.0.0 or later
• RMagick 1.10.0 or later
• Gettext (ruby) 1.6.0 or later
• Database

NorfelloCMMS OS supports the following databases:

• MySQL version 4.1 or later
• Postgres version 8.0 or later
• SQLite version 3.0.0 or later

Note about the default interface language

The initial databases prior to version 1.0.0-rc7 used Finnish as the default interface language for the initial users 'admin' and 'user'. This was changed in 1.0.0-rc7 and the default language is now English.

Note about the new key

The version 1.0.0-rc7 added one new key that users of the older databases must create manualy. The name of the key is 'user/remove_from_user_groups'. This key should only be added to the keyrings of the administrator users.

Known Bugs and Issues

• The 'Browse' button of file input fields doesn't use the currently selected localization (#9).
• Too large session data causes application error. This is fatal but only occurs with large datasets like 10 000 assets (#193).
• Some error messages are not fully localized (#202) and too hard to understand (#183).
• Time, date and datetime fields are presented in a hard to understand form in the report view page (#174).
• There are links to actions that the current user is unauthorized to access in many places (#188, #189).
• Uploading type specific attachments doesn't generate timeline events (#179).

Enhancements

• User is now always redirected to the asset information page, timeline, work order listing, report listing or the attachment listing when an asset is selected from the asset tree.
• User is now informed about invalid markup links when she tries to follow them.
• All 'Cancel' links were converted to buttons (POST instead of GET).
• The 'My information' page now also displays information the user is not allowed to modify.
• Downloaded reports are now named 'report_[ID].odt' instead of 'report.odt'.
• Empty report categories are now hidden in the report searching page.
• Asset tree rendering was optimized. The rendering time dropped to about one third.
• New report field groups now have the 'Place in the form' attribute automatically initialized to n + 1 where n is the number of groups in the report type.
• Options for the 'Place in the form' attribute of the report field groups are now from 1 to n where n is the number of groups in the report type. The old range was from 1 to m where m was the number of fields in the report type.
• The 'Place in the group' attributes of report fields are now automatically initialized to the range from 1 to n where n is the number of fields in the report type. Old behavior was to set it to one for all fields.
• Options for the 'Place in the group' attribute of the report fields are now from 1 to n where n is the number of fields in the group that the field in question belongs to.
• The 'Application' top menu button now points to the Asset Information page.
• The default interface language changed to English.
