How to migrate database in Windows

This page describes how one can move the database form NorfelloCMMS 1.0.0 to NorfelloCMMS 1.0.1 when using the Windows installer.

Step 1 - Backing up the database

The database of NorfelloCMMS is stored to a files called cmms_os_production which should be found under INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY\app\cmms where INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY is the place where you installed NorfelloCMMS (C:\Program Files\NorfelloCMMS for example). Copy this file to a safe location.

Step 2 - Uninstall old version

Run the NorfelloCMMS uninstaller and make sure that everything under INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY is removed (remove by hand if necessary).

Step 3 - Install new version

Download and run the new NorfelloCMMS installer.

Step 4 - Copy database

Take the old cmms_os_production file that you backed up in step 1 and copy it over the new one, that you just installed.

You should now be able to start the server and continue to use the old database.
